Disruption to Churton Water Supply-6 October

The Parish Council has been in contact this morning with Ian Plenderleith, Chief Executive of Dee Valley Water, to express concern about the latest disruption to water supplies. Today's disruption is the fifth this year and the fourth in two months. Mr Plenderleith has apologised on behalf of Dee Valley Water and explained that this morning's problem was caused by a burst in the Wrexham Ring Main, in the vicinity of Wrexham Industrial Estate. Engineers have been working to isolate the burst and restore supplies. They hope to do this by midday, 6 October.

Mr Plenderleith added that Dee Valley Water's investment plans have been amended to ensure that vulnerable mains replacements, such the one serving Churton, before April 2016 or sooner.

Mr Plenderleith will be attending the next Churton Parish Council to explain in more detail Dee Valley Waters plans to ensure Churton has secure water supplies.

Hedges & Trees Overhanging the Highway

The Area Highways teams regularly receive complaints about hedges and trees on private property that have been allowed to overhang the highway.  This makes life difficult for pedestrians, particularly those walking with children/with a pushchair, walking with a walking stick or in a wheelchair, who are forced to walk on the verge or in the road to get past the vegetation.  Overgrowth of rural hedges can obstruct visibility at junctions and on bends, increasing the risk of accidents.

Now that the bird nesting season is over we’re asking everyone to look at the hedges and trees on their property and check that they have not encroached onto the footway or carriageway.  If they have, can owners please put some time aside to cut them back – and take into account a bit of ‘growing’ room for next year.
